Let’s Fish! Scotland’s Canals – Glasgow Angling Centre Open Weekend Program

March 8 - March 10

Are you planning to visit the Glasgow Angling Centre Open Weekend, or are you looking for something to do with the children over the weekend of 9th/10th March? The SFCA will be running the popular ‘Let’s Fish! Scotland’s Canals’ events on the Forth & Clyde at the Hamiltonhill Claypits on both days.
The sessions will be approximately 50 minutes long. The first 30 minutes will focus on learning how to tie knots and set up fishing tackle, and about baits that can be used before going down to the canal bank to practice casting and have a try to catch a fish. The aim is to try to equip everyone with the basic knowledge of how to set up and get out fishing on their own. We will also be covering the safe and correct use of disgorgers to unhook and return fish to the water.
Parents are more than welcome to sit in on these sessions so that they can learn together making this a great activity for the family.
These sessions aren’t just for children though, if you are looking to try fishing for the first time or get back into it after a break, the coaches will be able to provide any advice or guidance required.
As with the popular summer and autumn programs that ran last year, sessions can be booked through the JustGo Membership system and can be found by clicking the link below:
