The Ruan Ruarie beat on the River Garry enjoys runs of salmon from late April or early May onwards.
The beat extends about two kilometres from the mouth of the Girnaig Burn at the upstream end of the Pass of Killiecrankie down to the footbridge near to the downstream end of the pass. Fishing is from the east (left) bank only.
When river conditions are favourable, the beat can provide good fishing in beautiful surroundings for salmon and grilse right through the summer and autumn. However, because of its rocky nature the beat is more suited to active and physically fit anglers.
There are at least 12 named holding pools with ample water suitable for fly fishing or spinning. Four salmon permits are available per day.
