The Angling Scotland Board is delighted to announce the appointment of David Ogg as the Independent Chair of Angling Scotland.
As a former President of the Scottish Anglers National Association (SANA) David will already be well known to many in Scottish Angling. He has been involved in angling administration since 2002, initially with the Royal Air Force and then as President of SANA from 2010 to 2012.
David has had a real passion for angling throughout his life. He was taught to fly fish at the age of five and has enjoyed the sport in its various guises for more than 50 years – and counting.
David brings a wealth of professional and voluntary management experience to the role of Chair of Angling Scotland Ltd. He is looking forward to meeting, or renewing acquaintances, with the key players in Coarse, Sea and Game angling, working with the individual Sport Governing Bodies, sportscotland, the Scottish Government and the wider Scottish angling community to further our sport and encourage participation in all sectors of our society.
Angling Scotland Board member Gus Brindle, Chairman of the Scottish Federation for Coarse Angling commented, “David is the ideal candidate to be the first Chair of Angling Scotland. His previous knowledge of the three SGBs and personal experience in working in partnership during the early days of the Angling Development Board of Scotland means that he already possesses a good level of corporate knowledge of the organisations and stakeholders involved in Scottish Angling. This will stand him in good stead, whilst being away from the politics of Scottish angling for the past 7 years will give him the ability to take an objective and unbiased view of where we are, where we are going and to help to lead the Board in driving the sport forward”.
